What We Do
Three pillars of service, brought to life through community gatherings, drives, and celebrations.
For 25 years, food hamper distribution has been the heart of our mission. Started with 100 hampers in 2000, we have now distributed over 118,500 hampers and aim to reach 10,000 families in 2026. This act of giving is more than a service—it is our identity. Each hamper brings dignity and hope to families across Durban and beyond.

This special initiative honors our cultural heritage while fulfilling our mission to ensure no one goes hungry. Festival giving strengthens community bonds and demonstrates the power of collective compassion.

We work with like-minded organizations, community-based groups, and government bodies to expand our reach and effectiveness. Our latest partnership with Sai Food Kitchen includes a monthly R2,000 contribution and ongoing volunteer seva in vegetable cleaning and cooking. Through partnerships, we build capacity, share resources, and create sustainable solutions that address root causes of poverty and hunger in our communities.

Community Partnership
Monthly Feeding Seva
Through our partnership with Sai Food Kitchen, Jyoti Jivanam contributes R2,000 each month and volunteers our time every month to help prepare nourishing meals for communities in need. Our members assist with vegetable cleaning and cooking seva as part of this ongoing monthly feeding programme.

Join us for our 26th annual Deepavali hamper drive as we work toward 10,000 families in 2026. Volunteers are needed to receive, pack, and distribute food hampers at Briardale Primary Hall in Newlands and Umhlatuzana Civic Hall in Durban South.
